Welcome

August 15th, 2008

Welcome back class of 2010!

I hope that the summer has been relaxing and productive for you.  Our work together begins on August 26th.

The main purpose of this blog is to communicate information to you and your parents regarding the English classes I teach, whether you are enrolled in Eng3 or AP Eng3. I hope that you use this technology to assist yourself during 2008-2009.

I’d like to begin by introducing myself briefly to you.  This is my nineteenth year teaching English to  secondary students.  I love teaching and the thrill of learning right along with teenagers each day. One of my passions is music.  I am a singer, a flutist, and occasional keyboard player.

This summer I have spent much time in different places.  Two of those places were Fargo, ND and Saskatchewan, Canada.  From these new vistas, I have learned a thing or two about myself and about enhancing my teaching.  I have also relearned that people are people, no matter where they live or what language/s they speak.

Day One of class will begin with more information about my summer and what you can expect from this school year.

Homework for Day One: Come prepared to discuss what you want to learn in the course you are enrolled in this year.

Enjoy your weekend and remaining days of summer!  I’m sure I’ll see you around campus before the 26th!

Below I included a shot of me with Grammy-award winning artist Keith Bear.  I met him in Streeter, ND.  He is a member of the Three Affiliated Tribes.  It was a honor to listen to him speak and play flute.
